A Day of Play: Surface Design & Embellishment with Lyric Montgomery Kinard

Come spend some delightful time playing with surface design techniques such as screen printing, foiling, and photo transfer, as you create little winged friends, ready to turn into lovely mini art quilts. Learn two easy techniques for transferring photocopies onto cloth and please your inner magpie with easy to apply, shiny, permanent, metallic foil.

In the afternoon we will add beads of all shapes and sizes to your mini quilt. Here’s the prize: no knots or mess on the back! Learn to embellish in a way that adds to the overall design instead of looking like an afterthought.

$35 supply fee required.

Techniques Taught include:

  • Solvent Photo Transfer (will be using Citra-Solv, and orange-based cleaning solvent)

  • Inkjet Transfer Paper

  • Thermofax Screen Printing

  • Foiling on Fabric
