Summer has arrived! Time for more sunscreen, more beach time, more picnics and perhaps some vacations! Time to enjoy the easier pace of summer. Time for more sunscreen!
I wanted to thank Kristeen Dolan for the excellent program in May. We hosted Hailey Simmons, Director of the Carteret County Child Advocacy Center and Allison Robinett. They told us what the Child Advocacy Center’s role was and more on how they function. It was a very informative presentation. For many it may have been the first time we understood better how and where our quilts go and the benefit they are. Currently the Center is seeing more adolescences. Both genders and they like the color red! That was a surprise to me. The boys tend to go for more of the airplane and truck prints and anything with team logos on them. I also would like to thank Mary Kay Smith for suggesting the Center as speakers a few meetings ago. And applause goes to Holly Schultz and Bonnie Sturdevant for their many years of dedication to this very worth wild charity.
This month I am really looking forward to our program, ‘The Art & Soul of Gees Bend Quilts’ by Mark and Teri Craven. They will have a trunk show as well as the presentation. Please bring a guest. We will be charging $ 5.00, at the door, for any non-members.
July is our birthday party, there is a wonderful luncheon planned for us, go to the guild website and register, select your luncheon choice and join in the fun!
There are lots of fun activities coming up, this summer, so mark your calendar, make reservations and join us.
And as always,
See ya on the Quilted side,
Lis
