Exploring creativity through quilting

From the President

How do you think March will present itself? Like a roaring lion or meek as a lamb? I hesitate to even speculate considering how February surprised us all with that fluffy white stuff! I must admit it was fun to look at, enjoyed just letting go and embracing being ‘snowed in’ by trying to catch up with some sewing read a bit and baked!

Another benefit of the snow was the required rescheduling of a few events, like Tips, Tricks and Treasures. Chris P. and Bonnie S. demonstrated a clever way to upcycle used wool or batting scraps along with fabric scraps and transforming them into lovely bowls. As well a variety of bags and a heart shaped charm. Truly inspiriting and easy to do, or at least the first 3 steps have been!

We also tried out having an extended Drop In day on the same Tuesday as the Tips, Trick and Treasures, it was well received so we are planning on trying it out again. Stay tune for updates.

Fortunately, QuiltCon was able to take place as originally planned! It was amazing, a sensory overload, inspiring and a shopper’s smorgasbord! If you are a fan of the modern quilting style or not, the workmanship and creative process on display was worthy of seeing and digesting. Slowly.

I did spy many of you there, apparently, we have two You Tube stars or were they ‘photo bombing’ a vendor, another member practiced some MAJOR retail therapy session. MAJOR. And some of us managed a class or two or caught some ‘main stage’ demos. Next year back to Atlanta! I have already heard plans for attending!

Looking forward to March, our meeting will host a great speaker via zoom in conjunction with our Day of Sharing theme, “Made in the U.S.A.” Still time to get your ticket for this special day and support the outstanding committee that has been working so hard for this event.

And lastly, literally the last week of March, is our Guild Retreat. This year we are moving locations to the Crystal Coast Oceanfront Hotel! Ocean views, sewing with our friends and no cooking! This hotel boasts an onsite restaurant. Call Paula J. to see you can still join us!

This is enough to keep us all stitching away. Until next month,

See ya on the quilted side,

Lis
