The Crystal Coast Quilters Guild is excited to have Annie Smith doing a lecture and trunk shop called "Annie Smith Trunk Show and Lecture 'Understanding Color' on March 19, 2020. During this time, she will take the audience through a journey of color and fabric. She will discuss what really influences your fabric choices when starting a new quilt. No matter what your skill level, you will learn how to add personality of your quilts through choosing fabric with a new eye on color. The keys to fabric selection will be thoroughly discussed as well as how to make the color design rules work for you. This presentation will be at Shepherd of the Sea Lutheran Church from 6-8pm. Cost is $5.
On Friday, March 20, Annie will be leading "Building Your Color Sense" Workshop on March 20, 2020. This workshop combines a hands-on program about quilts and color standards, a demonstration where students play with fabric and build paste-ups from their stash. Lean to apply design rules to choose fabrics for quilts, enhancing your own color and fabric intuition. Students then compose an eye-popping quilt, The 1:10 Quilt, using a single block pattern and 10 fat quarters! The block used for this exercise is a magical block that changes design based on where you place your fabrics. Each block is totally unique and can't be repeated! As a part of the quilt making experience, you will also learn precision piecing, using one little essential notion. Workshop meets at Fort Benjamin Parks & Rec Center from 9 am-3:30 pm. Cost is $10 + $16 for the pattern, payable to Annie Smith on the day of the workshop.
Crystal Coast Tea Party Day of Sharing with Annie Smith on March 21, 2020. Annie Smith will share her humorous experiences as a quilt judge or being "The Quilt Police". The event will be held at On The Rocks Restaurant, 2604 W Fort Macon Road, Atlantic Bech, NC. Doors open at 9 am. Cost is $10 and includes plated lunch, guest speaker, door prizes and raffle quilts.
